Yay day off!

I have been so lazy today haha, but it's probably for the best since this weekend has been kinda crazy. Today is Pentecost, so everyone has the day off. Not bad, right?

So where to start? Melissa saw Berlin (while I worked boo) and then headed on to Amsterdam, and I worked Thursday and Friday. Verena was gone which meant I basically had nothing to do at work...it felt a little bit stupid even going since the only thing I accomplished was organizing the catalogues from 1970 til the present. I mean, I learned about all the art shows they've given but it's certainly not the most interesting work :P I was kinda down on Friday night when I came home-boring day at work, empty house, just in a blah mood, and then my friend (and fellow Halle participant) Cisco called and was like, hey wanna do something? So we met up for döner and then went to this nearby hostel that had a pretty cool bar and cheap specials. Cisco had stayed there last week while apartment hunting and he ran into an Aussie he met while he was there. Then we met a Brazilian guy who introduced us to the other people in his room. They were a pretty multikulti bunch haha-a Swedish guy, a Turkish guy, an American guy, two Finnish girls, and three Italian guys. We chatted outside for a while and finally we were like, hey how about we all go out together? So we did. It was really fun since everyone was so interesting-it was great.

The next day (saturday) we had planned to meet up but we had also forgotten to get everyone's phone numbers haha. I really wanted to go to this Cultural Fest in Kreuzberg, so I managed to get ahold of the American guy and we went together to go check it out. It was pretty cool-they had different sections like Africa, Latin America, Asia, Europe, etc. There were a ton of really awesome foods to try and music to listen to. It was pretty cool. American Guy has traveled a ton, so he was a pretty good Culture Fest companion since he wasn't afraid to eat new things haha. I ended up buying this really pretty silk scarf from India. I'm such a sucker for scarves, especially colorful ones.

pretty! :)

American Guy had only been to Berlin once before, and since I'm far from being a local, we agreed we should go check out some touristy things we hadn't seen yet. So we went to Schloß Charlottenburg and saw the gardens. Kinda Versailles-esque...except smaller and less gold haha.

After that we split up for a while. I went home, and then later Cisco and I met back at the hostel and met the group from the night before. We met a girl from Berlin who suggested this club called White Trash, so we got the group together, headed out and ended up dancing til 5:30 am. The music was so great though-usually i hate the music they play over here...i just can't get excited about dancing to vintage 70s and 80s hits and old MJ and Hit the Road Jack...but this club was pretty cool. The worst part was that when we left the sun was already out, bright and shining (since we're so far north it starts getting light at 4:30 am) which is a really odd experience. But, all the other bleary eyed, half asleep sequinned people on the metro with me made me feel slightly better. What can I say, when in Germany, gotta party like a German. And no self respecting German goes home before the sun comes up.
they actually put the gate to an ancient market back together!!

i wouldn't mind that in my house

Sunday I slept very very late and then met up with American Guy later that afternoon to visit the Pergammon Museum. He was also a history major so I was glad to go with someone who could indulge my nerdy tendencies. From there we continued our history tour by seeing one of the last remaining Fascist buildings (it's huge) and then Checkpoint Charlie. It was really fun hanging out with him since we have a lot in common, too bad he lives in south Germany...

Bunny party! CUTEST THING EVER

Today (monday) has been lazy. I've been sick-ish the last two weeks really, I start getting better and then I start not taking care of myself and it comes back. So I figured I ought to stay inside and behave myself and hopefully with some sleep and rest my voice (and health) will come back. Oh well, good excuse to write for the blog, right? :)

Here's some pictures of my place by the way...it's cute right?
